Kelly Akashi

2026 Milestone Grantee

Bio

Born in Los Angeles, Kelly Akashi has had solo exhibitions at the San Jose Museum of Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, and SculptureCenter. Her work has been included in group exhibitions at the Whitney Museum, Hammer Museum, and Mori Art Museum. She has been awarded monumental public commissions for JFK International Airport’s New Terminal One and the Williams College Museum of Art, and has presented commissioned work for the 2026 Whitney Biennial, Aspen Art Museum, and Clark Art Institute. Akashi has been awarded the forthcoming Martha Longenecker Roth Fellowship at UC San Diego and is the recipient of the 2024 Distinguished Women in the Arts Award from MOCA Los Angeles, and the 2022 LACMA Art + Technology Lab.
