Mary Lum

2024 Stepping Stone Grantee

Bio

Mary Lum is known for a broad-ranging collage practice that uses drawing, painting, comics, and artist’s books to recount her experiences as an urban wanderer. She has been awarded grants and fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, NYFA, and MacDowell, among others. Her work has been exhibited widely, including Mass MoCA, the Harvard Radcliffe Institute, Oxford University, UK, the Aldrich Museum, and the deCordova Museum. The work has been written about in Artforum, Art In America, BOMB, Hyperallergic, and The Brooklyn Rail among others. Her most recent artist’s book “The Moving Parts (&)” was published by Radcliffe. Lum’s work is represented by Yancey Richardson in New York. She lives and works in North Adams, MA.
