Bio
Rogelio Báez Vega is a Puerto Rican multidisciplinary artist whose work explores themes of colonial history, constructed landscapes, and vernacular architecture, drawing from Caribbean literature and contemporary political culture.
His artist residencies include MASS MoCA, Art Omi, Vermont Studio Center, and the Joan Mitchell Foundation in New Orleans. His work is part of collections such as the Jorge Pérez Collection, Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo, Whitney Museum of American Art, and Norval Foundation, among others. Báez Vega has received grants from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation, Joan Mitchell Foundation, and Gottlieb Foundation.
He exhibits his work both locally and internationally. In 2024, the Museum of Art and Design showcased over 20 paintings created in the past six years, and this past November, his work was exhibited in one of London’s leading galleries.
